| Blending genres and sounds is hardly a new trick, but Austin, Texas' At All Cost have managed to do it with this album. Circle Of Demons will probably end up filed under 'metal', but that's a gross oversimplification. Sure, the metal vibe and sound is there, in various guises that range from hard rock balladry to the hyperactive chugging of death and thrash. Throw in some epic fret-wank soloing from the cheesier end of prog, the melodies of classic NWOBHM, the soaring harmonies of emo, a scattering of keyboard and sampler sounds ... and anything else that happens to be lying around.
