Thoroughly comfortable in his band's new guise, Candlemass leader Leif Edling put together one incredible album with 'From the 13th Sun,' which may not sound much like "classic" Candlemass, but stands strongly on its own as a fantastic and highly memorable piece in the band's discography. Reaching back toward the influence of Black Sabbath as well as an update on the kind of space rock sounds innovated by Hawkwind, this album finds Candlemass reaching far back into the past, only to throw it headlong into a more futuristic setting.
