| Best Cradle Of Filth album in 10 years | |
Now, I love Cradle Of Filth. I don’t care what people say. They’ve either sold out or are one of those Hot Topic nu-metal bands. I really don’t think so. But I hated previous effort “Thornography”. I thought it was poorly written and uninspired. So I was expecting more of the same with “Godspeed On The Devil’s Thunder”. And when I first heard said album, I really didn’t like it. But some of the best albums ever recorded are those that take several listens to get into. That was the case with this album. It’s complex. Once I got into it I discovered so many layers to it. It’s a masterpiece. It’s catchy, it’s brutally fast, the content is captivating (it’s a concept album based on the life of serial killer Gilles De Rais). All in all I would say this is Cradle of Filth’s best album since 1998’s Cruelty and the Beast. Everytime I put it on (which is often) I cannot wait to listen to it again.
