| The Return of the Mighty Deicide | |
Deicide lost me on the last three albums. Scars of the Crucifix was decent but nowhere near the glory days of the S/T album, Legion or Once Upon The Cross.
I wasn't expecting what I got with The Stench Of Redemption at all. The Hoffman brothers are gone and replaced by Jack Owen of Cannibal Corpse fame as well as former Iced Earth guitarist Ralph Santolla who both quite frankly annihilate both Hoffman brothers in terms of sheer talent and guitar precision.
This album is by far the fastest Deicide album in their entire catalog. It's also their best since Once Upon The Cross. It's the best guitar album they've ever done with the melodies and solos shining above anything the Hoffman's were ever able to create on past albums. Glen Benton's back to his evil self as usual with probably the best vocal performance of his career.
Deicide is back with a vengenance. My, how we've missed you.
