The Devasted grew from the final lineup of Riverside, CA band Oblige, and also includes former members of area death/grind masters Impending Doom. The Devastated was such a new sonic identity that it was determined a name change was necessary. 'The Devil's Messenger' is an unrelenting avalanche of riffs and vocalist Greg Wilburn's particularly insane delivery. Though they may have emerged from the same scene that spawned the likes of Suicide Silence and Winds of Plague, The Devastated carve out their own niche with their own brand of catchy yet absurdly heavy music, dubbed by the band themselves as "grimy and gross." Features a guest vocal performance by Mitch Lucker (Suicide Silence). (2012)
