The new album from Italy´s most successful metal band ever! ''Shallow Life'' is a natural metamorphosis from within the band; they explored different musical territories while maintaining their own style. A mix of old and new, fast and slow and light and dark. The album production is incredibly powerful and has a beautiful purity to it. (2009)

It is shallow
I like lacuna coil. their music used to be so deep and meaningful, but this album has shallow lyrics, almost pop-like. where the just say everything they want to say straight out like in the song "i like it" they just say i like this, i don't like that. what happened to the deep songs like "Senzafine"

"Shallow Life" is a bit... shallow.
This is NOT a bad album. However, Lacuna Coil has reached a certain status within the music world where more is expected of them with each release. On “Shallow Life” something is lacking. Cristina does a fantastic job here, as her vocals are always amazing and moving. Also, Andrea Ferro does a great job handling his vocals here. It is good to be hearing more from him. Andrea and Cristina balance one another quite well on this release.

In my opinion, it is the guitar work here that kills it for me. It sounds so uninspired. Cristiano Migliore and Marco Biazzi are so much more capable than what they have to offer here. They’ve proven this to be true in the past. It is almost as if they’ve gotten a bit lazy now that Lacuna Coil is an internationally acclaimed act (a phenomenon that occurs with many bands). In the future, I hope to hear them go back to the roots of the band a bit and devise a more artistic and intricate album for their next release. I know Lacuna Coil, and they can do much better than this.
