Those that lambasted Landmine Marathon’s last album for being too slow will have no complaints with their latest record Gallows. Sovereign Descent toyed around with doom/sludge influences, which went against the grain for the band known for their vicious and calculated crusty death metal. Gallows is a return to normalcy for the Phoenix, Arizona quintet. A crisper production and catchier melodies make this material stand out above the band’s last three albums. (2011)
