The under-appreciated German tech-thrash cult band returns with their first album since 1997's 'Pictures At An Exhibition'. It's like 10 years hasn't passed, as the band offer up their trademark brand of quirky tech/prog speed/thrash with the skill they've always possessed. And what a great lineup leader/bassist Ralph Hubert has assembled: guitarist Peter Lake (Theory In Practice, Mutant), drummer Uli Kusch (ex-Helloween, ex-Masterplan, ex-Holy Moses, Ride The Sky) and vocalist Leo Szpigiel (Scanner, Wolf Spider, Crows, Duke). The production, especially the drum sound, is weird and headache-y in its clatter and noise, but that only adds to the atypical atmosphere that permeates all Mekong Delta albums. (2008)
